Mike Marine
Mike Marine was born and raised in Norton Shores, Michigan, a small town on the shores of Lake Michigan. Upon earning a bachelor’s degree from Michigan State University, he worked for a state agency as a Transportation Planner for a year before accepting a sales position at MarkPack in 1995. Although this was a major change, he soon began his sales career calling on customers from Muskegon to Traverse City.
In 2006, Mike was promoted to MarkPack’s sales manager and continued in this role until 2010, when he was promoted to vice president of operations for both MarkPack and NagelShippers Products. During this time, Mike traveled between branches and expanded his knowledge and understanding of both sales and operations.
After running both companies for David Nielsen, the third-generation family owner, David decided to sell the company to Mike in 2019. This marked the first time in company history that a non-Nielsen family member did not own the company. MarkPack and NagelShippers still have a family-oriented culture emphasizing employee care and appreciation.
Mike still lives in Norton Shores with his wife, Bobbi, and their Aussie, Louis. During his spare time, he enjoys traveling, hiking, and fishing.
